Overview: “Some boys can get rough, some don’t always listen when you tell them to stop, and some boys, they’re just monsters. You gotta be careful who you play with…” ~ Jax Declan

I’m a tease, always have been. In my teens, Jax Declan tried to warn me about staying away from the bad boys. The only boy I ever wanted was Jax. But, no matter how much I tried to play with him, he rejected me.

I haven’t seen Jax Declan in years. A couple friends and I are going back to the Bayou for the summer. A little older now, and a bit wiser, I’ve decided that I’m going to find my teenage crush and I’m going to break him. This summer Jax Declan will play with me.

But the closer I get and the more I learn about the reserved, discreet, and sexy Jax Declan. Well, I’m starting to think that Jax Declan might just be one of those bad boys he tried to warn me about all those years ago.

My Review: 4 darkly glowing stars for Jax! I loved reading this and love Jax. I mean, who doesn't love a guy who put his life and desires on hold at the young age of 19 to take care of his bothers? Emmie makes you laugh and also surprises you with her maturity at times. The two together are pretty dynamic and explosive which is quite alright with me.

Jax, oh deliciously dark Jax, how I adore thee. Jax is a man who struggles to control his darker desires. He's a dominant, he likes kink and control, and he struggles to contain it at times. He doesn't think Emmie can handle that dark part of him but she pushes and teases it from him. He's wanted her since she was 16 and he was 19 but couldn't act upon it. When she comes back about ten years later Jax knows he can't let her get away.

Emmie always wanted Jax, he's the one who completely ignored her, or so she thought. Now back in town for the summer Emmie plans to get to him and have him. She wants to tease and break him before he can break her. It's just too bad he doesn't allow for her to do that, he flips it all on her. Jax controls, tugs the strings like a skillful puppet master, and Emmie can't fight him. She finds herself falling further into him, into them, and feeling things she didn't expect.

I ate this book up, literally. I sat on my bed and didn't get up until I finished this. I loved the hero and heroine, the sexual build up, the sex, the story that shaped Jax and Emmie, and the coming together of the two. Where the story lost a star was the ending. There is no definitive happy ending and that bothered me. The ending leads you right into the next book which is set for Jax's broken brother Slate.
